I’m back after a day off (no, I wasn’t in smartphone rehab) with all the news that caught my eye from around the Web.
- Missy Franklin (excuse me, gold-medalist Missy Franklin) is one of the big stories of this year’s Olympics. And while sponsors and endorsers are knocking on her door, she’s focused on something else: going to college.
- OnCampus Research reports that the amount students spend on course materials (i.e., books) is decreasing. Not decreasing? Most other costs associated with school, I’d guess.
- Surprisingly, Pocket UV did not make the cut in this list of the 25 best apps for college students.
- WiseBread lists 8 creative uses for empty K-cups. Now, you could just refill them with coffee, but Jell-O shots are much more fun (though maybe not first thing in the morning).
- I couldn’t resist this infographic from MoneySupermarket.com that details the cost of being Iron Man. This may need an entire post of its own. If Iron Man is at the expensive end of the spectrum, who’s at the low end? Has to be Superman, right? He’s just wearing tights and doesn’t even have to pay for a mask. Let me know what you think in the comments.
